This week on the Art Dump we’ve got some work in progress shots of the Ophidia.
First up is a pic from earlier in the week with him showing off his new snazzy buckles on his shoulder straps.
Next image shows some more details on his waist belt and some studs on the belt going across his chest.
Below is a mostly up to date image of the sculpt with his gear laid out and me starting to fill the gaps in the belts going over his backpacks. The belts going over the top look cool and are a cool idea but the trouble with casting miniatures is that you can’t really have gaps (or you can but you have to be tricky about it). I’ve also spent some time trying to make it look like the belts don’t just disappear into his shoulders.
And that brings us to the end of another our weekly Art Dumps. Hope you enjoyed it and we’ll catch you next week 😀
Are you sculpting all of that or modeling some of it?

Hi there, for the Ophidia I’ve just been 3d sculpting everything in Zbrush. For some of the other models we’ve occasionally used base meshes in Maya.

Damn man, my hats off to you. Hard surface sculpting is pretty rough imo. My background is a bit more Maya than ZBrush, hence why hard surface sculpting isn’t really my cup of tea. Great work so far!

Cheers!! Yeah straight lines in Zbrush aren’t always easy and things have a tendency to look ‘mushy’ if you’re not careful haha.
